You will not find a cleaner, nicer example of the Cal 34,(this boat is the 2-34) than this one—and you won’t find a better deal on anyboat this size in this condition.
I haveowned her for four years—but she’s only been in the water one of those years, which is a shame.
She’d make a great liveaboard, she’s a natural club raceror weekender, she is very responsive in the water.
Much of the sailing I’ve done has been on aMorgan 41 Out Island and this boat feels much different, the steering is moreresponsive, she just feels much quicker than that old Morgan, yet she’s bigenough to make a great small cruising boat.
I’m going to focus on that other boat, the Morgan 41 OutIsland, but it means someone is going to get a good deal on a great boat.
I’m really torn about selling her.
I love this boat.
I am selling her with a bill of sale only.
That’s all I got when I bought her.
You will be responsible for titling her inwhatever state you choose, or wherever you take her.
I got incredibly lucky, you don’t buy the boat, you buythe previous owner, and the guy I bought this from was a very knowledgeablesailboat person, and he paid people to maintain and service his boat, so it wasall done at a nearby boat yard, and he stored it at the same yard I store itat.
That yard knows this boat prettywell and they could be a good resource for you.
The Westerbeke is original and runs fine, if a littlesmokey—she has all of the cosmetic issues of an older boat but otherwise she’sgreat and her bilge is dry.
The boatyard where she’s kept over the winter is a great place—they’re very competentand they could help a first time owner quite a bit if you need that.
She comes with decades of cruising gear—the list below isnot complete but it gives you an idea of what is aboard her.
Documentation: I have the original documentation that Ikeep stored dry and away from the boat, in addition to the originaldocumentation I have two professionally spiral bound copies of everything:
- Two spiral bound copies of the Westerbeke 30 SpareParts List
- Two spiral bound copies of the Westerbeke Engine RepairManual (the engine bible)
- Two spiral bound copies of the Westerbeke ServiceBulletins
- Two copies of the Owner’s Manual
Including:
- Original wiring diagram
- Original copy of the standing and running riggingspecifications
As a note, she is set up to single hand. The new self-tailingBarient winches are super helpful here and she balances very well under headsail alone in any kind of moderate air.
In fact, in heavy air she is great with headsail alone and it gives youthe ability to quickly adjust sail area.
NOTE: she does have the traveler mounted above thecompanionway, which is one of the identifying features of the 2-34 seriesboats.
