Antique Georgian Mourning Ring, Memento Mori Dated 1819, Historical, Gold. Original Georgian Mourning Ring, memento Mori, marking the death of one (as inscribed) William Bridges, Esq, died Dec. 1819 aged 70. A ripe old age for that period. Found at an Australian estate. Upon research, this ring may belong to the family line of William Wilson Somerset Bridges of Australia, a prominent military family tree. Ring tests at 15k gold and has human hair under glass surrounded by tiny pearls and black enameling that has worn in spots. Weighs 4.8 grams. Nicely etched sides, Crystal is scratched. Size 7.5 US sizing. Overall wear consistent with early 19th Century use. A lovely historical piece of rare mourning jewelry.Please email any questions prior to bidding.
