This 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible underwent an extensive, professional frame-off rotisserie restoration and is absolutely stunning! This Pontiac is believed to be a 2 owner car since new. Included with the sale of this GTO is the Pontiac Historical Society (PHS) documentation including a copy of the Shipping Order and the Pontiac Car Order Form. Most Pontiac fans know the story of the GTO. It was the brainchild of John Delorean who was an engineer for Pontiac in the early 60s. Delorean and his colleagues threw a Pontiac 389 V8 in a LeMans, calling it the "Grand Tempest Option" and launching the American muscle car era. The 389 Cubic Inch Pontiac V8 in this GTO is stamped with a "78X" code, which means that it is truly a 325 Horsepower 389 V8 w/ 3 Speed Manual Synchromesh Transmission, just like how this car was ordered from the Kansas City, Missouri factory. The engine was also completely rebuilt back in 2011, when this car was restored and it still runs strong. The previous owner has stated that the engine has about 3,000 miles on it since the 2011 rebuild. Like all 64 GTOs, dual exhaust give this particular example a great muscle car sound. The Front Brakes have been upgraded to power disc brakes and the rear drum brakes are powered as well. This particular GTO Convertible is also equipped with Power Steering, making for a much easier car to drive. GTO lovers know that the convertibles were the rarest of the 3 different body styles in '64, and they also know that finding one as nice as this one is very difficult. The Ivory Vinyl Power Convertible Top is in excellent condition and it goes up and down with the simple push of a button. The chrome and brightwork on this GTO Convertible is stellar! The exterior on this Pontiac muscle car has been refinished in its original Grenadier Red (Code V) color, giving this car a truly eye-catching look. This Convertible sits on 4 Pontiac Rally Rims with PMD center caps and 4 BFGoodrich Radial T/A Tires, which makes for a great look and better ride. This GTO is outfitted with a Parchment Vinyl Bucket seat interior with center console that is in excellent condition and is correct for this car. The dash, door panels, and steering wheel are in spectacular shape as well. This particular GTO was ordered from the factory with a Tachometer, that is incorporated into the instrument cluster on the dash. The entertainment system has been upgraded to an Alpine Bluetooth System that is tastefully tucked into the glove compartment and has a 1,000 watt Crunch Amplifier and aftermarket speakers in the trunk. A floor-mounted Hurst shifter gives this GTO a muscle car look and feel. If you're looking for a well-documented muscle car in excellent condition, this 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible is the car for you. Give us a call today!
