Description
This is a superb Georgian gilt armorial fob seal, dating to the late 18th century. It is made from ormolu, gold gilded and set with a fiery red carnelian gemstone. The gem is expertly cut with an armorial "gules three rampant lions or
" within a Rococo Scroll Border, with Shells, and a Large Lion Rampant, surmounting the entire crest. The seal is in excellent condition, though the gold gilding has worn in places.
